This weekend a friend and I were talking about the apostle John’s testimony: “I am not the Christ” (Jn. 1:19-20). Isn’t that the story of every follower of Jesus summarized?
I am not a savior. But—even in the wilderness we can prepare the way of the Lord and make a highway for our King... so every valley will be raised and mountains leveled, the deserts made fields... so glory may be revealed, and all people will see it together. Let it be true, God.

Late night throwback because (1) I miss/love these friends & a whole bunch of other people (if you’re wondering if it’s you: yes. Shout out to the people in my life! 💕 ) and (2) we’re in a giant picture frame so that’s neat. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve been thinking about what it means to say we believe in/mentally ascribe to something & then believing with our lives. I’m not always great at the second part. If I really believe a forecast of rain, I’m going to grab a raincoat—not just think about how waterproof it is. So why is the way we “believe” Jesus any different? Just want to remind myself/anyone who needs it: there’s grace for our lack yet always more abundant life ahead.
